What is the difference between Therapeutic Massage & Clinical/Medical Massage?

Therapeutic or "Spa" Massage is usually a head-to-toe Swedish Massage. 
Medical Massage concentrates on specific soft tissue problem areas and gets to the root of the cause. Medical Massage Therapists are trained to relieve tension build up in soft tissue problem areas. This approach enables them to provide optimal treatment for you.

When should I NOT receive a massage?


*When in doubt ask your physician especially if you have sustained an injury within the past 72 hours.  Please notify your therapist either way.

*As a courtesy to your therapist and other clients, please reschedule your appointment if you have any symptoms of a cold, including head stuffiness, runny nose, watery eyes, or a fever. Any skin irritations such as a rash, open cuts, burns. poison Ivy, or sunburn. 

How much water should I consume after a massage?

To determine how much you need, take your body weight and divide it in half; this gives you your body's daily requirement of water in ounces. 
Example:
If you weigh 100 lbs., you should drink 50 ounces of water daily. 

What ages benefit from massage?

Age is not a factor, Your Therapist is trained to work with people of all ages. If you suffer from chronic problems or have had a recent injury, massage can help. Massage can benefit people with headaches, back and neck pain, insomnia, fibromyalgia, plantar-fasciitis, wrist and hand pain and some mimicked symptoms of carpal tunnel may be directly related to muscle tension. 

What should I wear for my massage appointment?

You are asked to remove clothing related to the specific area being treated. You should remove only what you are comfortable removing, (Always leaving your under garments on). Protecting your modesty comes first.

Why should I drink water after a massage?

Any massage releases toxins from the body. If these toxins are not flushed out of your system this can cause symptoms such as headaches and or nausea. If these toxins are not flushed out of the body, the toxins can also return to problem areas and reverse the benefit of the massage.
